I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) and the Director of the Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS), both at the University of Ghana.

I am a scholar of social policy and social development with over 20 years’ experience in research, teaching, community development and policy engagement. I have a BA in Psychology from the University of Ghana and a PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University. My research interest is in how young people and women, as marginalized social groups, attempt to construct better lives for themselves against the backdrop of generally unfavourable policy processes and structures. My work – published in journals in development studies, youth studies and gender studies – often contains themes of agency, participation and empowerment.
